The Retail Marketplace's UNCERTAIN FUTURE...

DID YOU KNOW:

...That (as most people do) trying to spell you full name from the letters floating in alphabet soup is a sure way to end up eating cold soup? This thought occurs to me now as a witness to the automotive industry, government, consumers, and suppliers trying to understand what’s going to happen next in automotive retail market place. The industry is just trying figure out what it needs to do to communicate with consumers, train its sales personnel, and control and balance their inventories while trying to react to every government agency and power grabbing politician seeking to gain huge yardage in this very confusing time. The transition from internal combustion engines to pure electric power vehicles has started and its going to be made more painful because so many are trying to make a power play of it. And once again, consumers and dealers will be paying the price for such poor leadership from those preoccupied with trying to make something for themselves.

...That with increased demand comes lower prices, and that little slice of good news applies to pure electric vehicles as well? The leading point of resistance to electric vehicles from the consumer perspective has been price. No less true for manufacturers, who couldn’t order enough of any components to gain them a pricing discount. The game has changed and new EVs are arriving in dealer showrooms competitively priced against their gas-powered counterparts.

...That is now predicted that the microchip shortage will not recover real soon as COVID-19 has driven TV and video game sales through the roof? GM has not shuttled three plants, Ford one and FCA is looking at a couple of plants to put a stop of production to. There’s a real lesson here for the manufacturers to learn from...here’s hoping they do.
