This weekend saw the Formula 1 circuit in San Paulo, Brazil. The mood was clearly different, likely because the World Driving Title is resolved. Mercedes was the fastest they’ve been all year, and went on to prove it with a one-two finish with George Russell getting his first F1 win.
Though the race was pretty good, it was the radio chatter between several of the drivers and their teams that was more interesting: From Mercedes drivers touching back on when to pit and the tire selection the team wanted to go with, to Ferrari ’s lead driver requesting his teammate to move over and give him the one point he needed for second in the title fight...the bosses said “NO!” Better still is when Red Bull requested Max move over and give his teammate a better finish and he REFUSED, going on to lecture the manager on the air how "that’s never going to happen" and "are we clear on that?”
Based on the moods and responses, it appears the long season of racing is starting to wear on everybody...and there’ still one race to go. If this year is tense, just wait for next year when the season has even more races added to the calendar for a total of 24. It's likely to get ugly.
