DID YOU KNOW:
...That the recycling of used tires is considered one of the most challenging repurposing projects of any reusable products to date? Several millions of used tires are gathered and dumped each year; it’s a huge issue. We recently viewed a TV special on the subject, but were disappointed to see it didn’t include any American efforts to deal with this monster challenge. So we asked Automotive Did You Know Contributing Editor Jay Dalton to research the story. We knew of no better investigator to get to the bottom of this topic and return with the full story of what’s currently going to solve this problem.
...That we shot our first in-car video as a test to see how road tests might turn out if we used the same techniques and equipment? We're pleased at how it went, so look for road tests of new vehicles to hit our YouTube program soon...real soon. After all, we likely have more road test experience and written more magazine reviews on new cars than any other group in broadcasting! Knowing how to review a vehicle is an art onto itself and after thousands of reviews, we have it down to a science and look forward to sharing the techniques we’ve mastered with you.
...That starting in June, BJ Killeen will be joining myself on air on a far more regular basis? I started working with BJ at MotorTrend magazine back in in 1986, and we’ve worked together in one form or another ever since. Along with Jay Dalton, she has been a key member of our radio and testing team for the last 30 odd years. Smart, funny and armed with more automotive knowledge than most humans walking the planet, I believe you’ll come to really enjoy her involvement with the show.
...That, for your information, Jake Taylor was thrusted into the role of producer, cameraman and editor of Automotive Did You Know? Jake already had plenty of other video, internet and company newsletter responsibilities here at Ford Country, but wow has this young man jumped in, taken the role with both fists and done a great job for us. Jake is really an actor, his true passion, but this guy has other talents and he’s been a huge part of the team. We’re grateful to have him onboard.
...The whole team answers to Jose Torres, the Business Development Manager at Ford Country? We’ve been surprised with how much he understands what we’re trying to do with the show. Granted he’s a tough editor to get by with some of my blogs, but he keeps Ford Country’s interest and reputation in mind when I take off on one of my rants, so he’s good to have as insulation. The team has a lot of respect for his opinions even when we don’t always want to hear what he says: sharp guy. All this is a long way of saying that the team is solid and the show, though new, is good to grow to levels befitting the talent of those involved. Hang in with us, we promise to bring more than "just another program out there."
