Preserving the PLANET...One Car at a Time

DID YOU KNOW:

...That despite getting little or no credit for all they’ve accomplished in the effort to improve the environment, auto manufacturers have done a great deal towards this cause? Couple of little facts:

  • Today automobiles are (on average) made of 75 to 83% recycled materials. Most vehicles are between 77 to 78% recyclable.

  • That exhaust emissions are down as much as 89% and still falling.

  • Given that April 22nd is Earth Day we thought you might like to know that a great percentage of vehicle manufacturers have switched to a plant-based covering for the internal wiring of today’s cars, trucks and SUVs, replacing oil-based plastic.

...That aluminum hoods, fenders, truck lids or, in a some cases the entire bodies, have helped manufactures to achieve improved fuel mileage? When this trend first started, some companies screamed with panic for fear that alloy-based body parts wouldn’t hold up or would be too expensive to repair in case of dent or worse. Proven wrong, most manufacturers are now using aluminum in one or several parts of the vehicle to help reduce its weight, hence improving its fuel milage and lower tailpipe emissions.

...That despite today’s full and mid-sized pick-ups appearing more like luxury cars, they carry more, tow more and get better milage and lower tailpipe emissions than trucks of just 10 years ago? No, you can no longer hose out the interiors for remove mud and such, as they did back in day, but wow are nice to ride in even when they’re not hauling things. Sometimes, progress is a great thing.
