Taking KING GEORGE'S Land?

DID YOU KNOW:

...That real estate is likely the best keeper of time? With time comes that fact that things change and this may be the case for the California-based "King 0f Customizers," George Barris. His passing in November of 2015 puts into question if the King’s famous custom shop will be swept off the land it has occupied for sixty years and become another mini-mall or gas station. The shop is considered hallowed ground by Barris fans, but Riverside Drive in North Hollywood is considered prime real estate. In short, time moves on and so to do certain landmarks...especially in California.

Barris was famous for mostly his iconic movie and TV show custom cars. The Batmobile is likely his most famous. Everything from the Munster Koach car to the Beverly Hillbillies rolling wreck are part of the Barris works. George was also famous for buying the wrecked Porsche 550 Spyder that James Dean died in and putting it on tour to scare kids into driving safer. That car was stolen while on tour and many believe parts from that car are cursed and have gone on to kill others who used them.

Though Barris was short in stature, he was larger than life in many ways and became a fan favorite when appearing at car shows long after his days of creating famous cars. His daughter went on the run the Barris Kustoms shop for years after her father’s passing, but the business is officially closed now and the shop is for sale. There is an effort to turn it into a museum but that will take considerable funding. His fans are trying.
