MORE on the 2021 BARRETT-JACKSON Auction!

DID YOU KNOW:

...That people are funny? Ford just introduced a new $20,000 pick-up and typical of the American vehicle buyers (and perhaps all humans in total), they want the low price but wish for more cab selections, more dashboard options and a tighter turning radius than the 40 feet that is common for most front-wheel-drive vehicles. They all want great fuel mileage but wish for a heavy frame under this compact pickup truck. Wow, Ford already does that: it’s called a Ranger or an F-150! A compact truck at a compact price can’t have all the extras and still be $20,000...People are funny.

...The huge Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction was in Las Vegas this past weekend at that shiny new Convention Center. The new Center even has lots of bathrooms which is noteworthy if you ever spent any time at the old location. Lots of spectacular vehicles were up for auction over the three-day event and there were some real steals! As usual we walked the entire show and found several cars and VW Buses we would have loved to have owned. The mind bender for us was the perfectly restored 1954 Corvette (which we love), only to see that the original Blue Flame Six had been removed and a 350 cubic inch Chevy small block engine in it’s place. Not a bad engine at all, but it REALLY hurt the vehicle’s value as it only fetched $30,000.

We were stationed in the Ford Motor Company booth with the OVC Shelby Mustang GT350R. Ford had requested the car be in their booth, which is always an honor for us. We talked to thousands of performance fans and watched the reactions to the new “full-size” Bronco and the new Maverick as well. Barrett-Jackson is always a blast to attend. However, we did hate walking nearly a mile from the closest Convention Center parking in 117 degree heat.
