DID YOU KNOW:
...That for April Fools' Day, an amazing number of gags, joke and misleading statements were made by a lot of auto industry persons and companies?
By now most of you know that Volkswagen pulled a stunt in which they said the company’s future is going to be totally electric vehicles, and to VW it made sense to rebrand themselves as "Voltswagen." Clever and a surprising number of media sources fell for it; some even got really pissed off.
Ford permitted a photo of an F-150 with its roof removed, proclaiming it to be a spy shot of the new F-150 Convertible to be introduced in 2022.
General Motors of course wasn’t kidding when it announced that it was going pure electric vehicles by 2030 and felt it should alter its world famous logo to lower-case letters: gm. That seemed an obvious gag, but sadly it’s true — silliness.
Others sent out shock videos of one some event only to be unexpectedly shocked by a crazy screaming monster's face, this of course designed to take years off your life (Don't worry, I won't share the jump scare video itself). Fake sales, amazing but untrue cars for sale, exotic cars at unbelievable bargain prices...the list goes and on and on.
April Fools' Day...definitely a busy 4/1/21. Mostly good jokes, not all well received by some but interesting. It was a fleeting glance that America just might regaining its sense of humor. Well, for some.
