DID YOU KNOW:
...That despite America’s roads being used 40% less since March of last year (due to COVID-19), the highway death rate is UP at an unbelievable 26%? The NTSA blames speed as the key reason. Seems the more open a road appears, the faster people want to drive on it.
...The world famous Daytona 24 hour endurance race was held last weekend (January 30/31) and ALL five class winners finished just 2-6 seconds of the car in second place?! Hard to believe a 24-hour race driven as fast as they can go would have all the front runners that close on pace. That’s great racing .
...The American V8 engine is not long for the planet? We’ve been it saying for some time as several manufacturers have been telling us. Oddly enough even Dodge, now plans to stuff their 707-hp Hellcat engine in yet another car platform (which we can’t reveal at this moment). We say "oddly enough" because this past weekend Dodge itself admits the V8 is on a short clock.
...Famed female racer Danica Patrick admits she didn’t love racing in NASCAR? We do believe she likely loved the large checks written to her by sponsor, GoDaddy.
...GM hates announcing that they’ve had to halt production of the much loved new C8 Corvette for a shortage of supplier parts? COVID-19 is at the core of it...again.
...Many in Formula One racing feel that the race now exceeds in speed compared to the ability of the tracks to handle them? In an effort to slow the cars down, the FIA has determined that they should change the shape of the car’s under-body to reduce its aerodynamic influence on the car’s traction.
...Little known to most race fans but the most famous name in racing, Roger Penske, is heavily involved in supporting an America’s Cup racing boat? Through trials, the America boat crashed and now has to come from behind in the next few races in order to qualify for the Cup Challenge itself. Fingers crossed.
