TIDBITS of INTEREST, Part 8

DID YOU KNOW:

...That in Japan there are very strict rules about driving a dirty car? This is likely the cause behind Toyota working to design a microchip that would sense when your autonomous vehicle is dirty and drive itself to a car wash. Clever if a little bit scary.

...The some electric vehicles have soft foam inside their tires? The noisiest component on most vehicles today are the tires, not the engine. The challenge to produce a quiet ride gets even greater in an electric vehicle, so manufactures of the very specifically designed tires add soft foam inside to help absorb noise.

...That there are now several car waxes so slippery that dirt, mud or water can’t stick to the vehicles finish? Nissan is considering making this standard on their vehicles. Demos of the products are very impressive, but we need to see it over time, like in the hot summer sun of Las Vegas. Love the idea, need more proof.

...That if you’re thinking you “might” want a Mustang Mach-E, you’d best get an order in if you hope to see it before 2022? The line just keeps getting longer; now local police groups are signing up. If you finally get the call to come get your Mach-E and decide you don’t want it anymore, you can always back out, no problem. There are 100 other people behind you.
