...That Henry Ford was often quoted as having said “The Ford Model T customer may have his car in any color he wishes so long as it is black.”? However, the statement is misleading in that many colors for the Model T were offered yet oddly enough there was a time period where black was not available.
...That Petersen Automotive Museum in Beverly Hills owns the original Green Hornet Black Beauty #1? There were two built by Dean Jeffries on 1966 Chrysler Imperials for the famed Green Hornet TV series. ...That long before Toyota introduced the Prius, General Motors created and leased an electric vehicle know as the EV1? Although, this vehicle's life started under the poorly chosen name of “Impact.” As good as the EV1 was, GM gained a ton of bad press when it announced they had leaned all they needed from it and were recalling all of them back to the factory to be crushed. We should note that the only way an automotive manufacturer can claim a tax credit on prototypes or limited production vehicles is to crush them with all the originals on board. Leases went through the roof when they learned that GM would not sell them their beloved EV1’s. It got messy, but over time GM got all but one of the leased EV1’s back. The last missing unit was found only recently in a parking garage not being used.
