PLUGGING IN to a New Auto Market

DID YOU KNOW:

...That Ford Motor Company plans to have its Sales Consultants be the most product informed when it comes to plug-in electric vehicles? The new program will require dealer sales personnel to attend a multi-day course of training in Dearborn, Michigan. With Ford committed to more electric power models in just the next two years, having a sales staff that knows the product and how to use and recharge it makes perfect sense. Honestly, though not yet announced, we suspect nearly every manufacturer will have to follow Ford’s lead on this. The vehicles are, at first glance, complicated and consumers have no knowledge how they worked. This is a great first step in solving that mystery.

...When it was first stated in 2020 that "the way we buy cars is going change," most of us didn’t take it too seriously? Our mistake. Turns out the manufactures were right. It hasn’t happened overnight, but it has come on pretty quick and is still changing. To cut to the chase...visiting dealer lots to pick out and drive home a new car or truck the same day is going to become increasingly rare. Dealers will stock vehicles for review and even test drives, and then generate our “order.” That’s a little disappointing given that generally buying a new vehicle is usually a pretty exciting experience.

...Though we believe there’s still a lot of challenges to solve, it appears certain that plug-in electric vehicles are going to dominate the market? By 2030, we’re going to find the selection of internal combustion engine powered vehicles will be much MUCH thinner than it is today. Scary part is, that’s not all that long from now.
