OVERNIGHT SUCESS...well almost.

The American consumer’s pushback to electric vehicles is world famous. Despite both the government and manufacturer efforts to convince the American car and truck buyer that “electric” is the way to go the uptake has been slower than the next round of stimulus checks. Price, limited range and the requirement for expensive at home super chargers haven’t helped. Well guess what? It’s a new day and electric vehicles about to populate in a big way.

Certainly product refinement and much longer drivable range have helped, a lot. The price has also come down and will likely continue to do so. In the early development stages, the program expenses to the manufacturers were so great that they needed to offer electric products largely in the higher end luxury price range. As the cost of development and the ability to “share” the technology with both in-house and competing manufacturers has given the electric vehicle charge a second shot at life.

To that end, expect a growing number of new vehicles to come to market in 2021 and even greater numbers in 2022. Case-in-point, an electric Ford F-150 offering for 2021 includes its own on-board generator. As America’s best selling truck and vehicle by volume overall, the new F-150 targets a market that would now more consider an electric truck more than it would consider plastic surgery. New day, new truck, new game. Though it’s still technically a hybrid, its greatly enhanced horsepower and torque figures, not to mention the fuel cost savings, are very likely to draw buyers that are fans of both performance and workload ability.

Trust us, the new 2021 F-150s are just the tip of the iceberg. Look for this market to finally start growing quickly.
