The Wienermobile is back, in fact six of them and their team members are back as well. Starting this month, six teams of “Hotdoggers”, the company name for its Wienermobile drivers, are back on the road. Of course, since being pulled off the road by the company out of respect for COVID-19, there’s a number of updates on how the giant hot dog will hit the road — to include longer stays in each town so as not to spread the Chinese flu, lots of hand sanitizer, and fewer fans allowed in the cab. Oscar Mayer knows the Dog-and-Bun roadshow is popular, so keep you mustard on the ready as you may spot one in your town soon.
Tesla is facing a never heard of before recall for warranty repair to its Model 3 rear bumper which can be (and has been) ripped off by driving through deep water in rain. At nearly seven-pound/gallon, one can understand that if super strong mounts for the bumper weren’t installed how a serious rush of ten to twenty gallons of the heavy wet stuff could apply a lot of pressure to mounts. Never seen this test done before. Good news is Tesla sees this as a no cost warranty repair.
Like it or not, the EV are coming. If that sounds a tad harsh, it's because most of the world isn’t ready for them. Home and roadside chargers are still rare, and the prices have yet to really come down. For example, the Hummer is base priced at $112,000! Granted there are cheaper versions coming soon, but dang that’s a serious hit for the average EV buyer. We’ve long wondered why every EV had such ugly front ends. Finally a few companies, not many, are designing grilles and hoods that are less offensive. Hummer and Volvo are now bringing “good looking” EV to market. Fingers crossed others will soon follow.
